About this game

You are Theo Marlowe, a rookie defense attorney at Bell Legal Aid in the harbour city of Port Calder – earnest, nervous, and much better at spotting lies than at hiding his own panic.

Investigate crime scenes, talk to suspects, collect evidence in your Court Record – then step into the courtroom. Listen to each witness's testimony, press every statement with "Hold on!" and, when a statement cannot possibly be true, shout "Objection!" and present the evidence that proves it. Every wrong objection costs credibility with the judge; lose it all and your client is found guilty.

Three connected cases: a soprano killed with her own award during a dress rehearsal; a reporter murdered in a newspaper archive while digging into a ten-year-old verdict; and finally your own mentor, accused of murder in the very courtroom where that verdict was spoken. Behind it all, a lie told for money ten years ago – and the man who paid for it.

With your best friend and paralegal Pip, the deadpan Detective Quintero, the flower-loving Judge Pemberton, the bellowing prosecutor Hargrove and the undefeated Ilsa Rook. Animated characters, hand-drawn-style backgrounds, objection bubbles, an original synthesized soundtrack and voice blips – all generated by the game itself.

Save anywhere (three slots plus autosave at every checkpoint, stored in the cloud when you are logged in), text speed, backlog and volume settings. Controls: mouse, or Enter/Space to continue, arrow keys to step through testimony, H to press, P to present, R for the Court Record, Esc for the menu. All characters, companies and events are fictional.
