Hive Breaker

2061. VORANT Biotech's underground complex Halden Deep stopped answering three days ago, after "Project Lantern" opened a rift into something alive. You are the operative a private clean-up contractor sends down – officially to recover the research.

Fight through eight story missions from the surface depot down to the rift itself: restore power, hunt keycards, burn hive nests and egg clusters, rescue scientists, open coolant valves before the reactor blows, hold a landing zone with a mounted heavy gun, and face the Brood Mother, the Behemoth and the Hive Queen. Ten kinds of aliens – swarming skitters, acid spitters, charging brutes, bursting bloaters, flying wasps, burrowers that surface right next to you – come by the hundreds.

Choose one of four operatives, earn money and experience, and spend them between missions in the armory: ten weapons from the shotgun to the minigun, flamethrower, plasma rifle, beam laser and rail cannon, each upgradeable three times; ammunition, medkits, grenades, mines, sentry turrets, a combat drone and a shield generator; five armour tiers and cybernetic implants. Level up, raise Vitality, Strength, Agility and Accuracy and pick perks.

Gun Mode: man a heavy rotary gun in a sandbag nest and hold out against endless waves with a boss every fifth wave. Between waves hire mercenaries (rifleman, flamer, sniper, rocketeer, engineer), build wooden, steel or concrete barricades, upgrade the gun with twin barrels, special rounds and a rocket pod, and call in mortar barrages.

Dark levels with dynamic coloured lighting, a flashlight with real shadows, blood and alien remains that stay on the floor (reduced-gore option available), synthesized sound and music. Your careers and Gun Mode records are stored in the cloud when you are logged in.
